General Assistance (GA)

What is General Assistance (GA)?

GA is a program for indigent adults who are at least eighteen (18) years of age and have no means of support.  The eligibility for GA and the amount of monthly assistance received depends on a number of factors, including the individual's housing situation and net income.

Individuals who are determined to be employable may receive GA for up to 90 days in a 12-month period. Individuals determined to be unemployable due to temporary or long-term disability may receive General Assistance until their disability is resolved.
